Drastic Titan Series Digital Disk Recorders - the Typhon

The Typhon digital disk recorders provide single or dual link capture and output with a wide range of direct format support in SD, HD and 2K standards.
 

There are two Typhon models - the Typhon is the single channel and the Typhon2 is a dual channel DDR.
 

Designed for high end post production applications, the Typhon models provide file transcoding and proxy creation, resolution independent VGA/DVI previewing, and a full range of uncompressed format support. The Typhon is perfect for editing, ingest and output, conversion, processing and review, SD/HD dailies and digital intermediate workflows, and comes fully optimized with network, HTTP, 422 serial, Odetics and VDCP control.

Operate under control for integration into an automated broadcast or production environment.
 

Control an external VTR for frame accurate pull-ins and laybacks. Save and export a matching EDL.
 

Control features include support for RS-422 (SD/HD), RP-188 (SD/HD), LTC Support (SD/HD), VITC/D-VITC (HD), RP-215 (HD), Full Network control from Java or HTTP, External VTR/DDR Control, Full Sony RS-422 Emulation with extensions, Odetics, VDCP Server Protocol Compatible.

Video standards - NTSC/525, PAL/625, Single or dual link (HD) 720p, 1080i/p/psf, Single or dual link 2K Digital Cinema.
 

Video channels - single or dual channel configurations available.
 

Direct format support - MOV, AVI, WMV, YUV/422/v210, TGA, TIFF, CIN, DPX, MXF*, RAW, GEN, JS, DVS, IHSS, HDR, 4224.
 

Audio - 16 channels embedded (SD/HD), 8 AES/EBU channels of audio per video channel, 16, 20 or 24 bit audio with AIFF and WAV support, analog audio monitoring.

Standard configuration provides a 4RU chassis (rackmount compliant with rails), with dual Gigabit Ethernet, mouse, keyboard, AC cable.
 

A rackmount breakout box is also included which is shallow in depth, and so may occupy unused rack space in the rear of the rack, to provide stable, labeled connections where you need them. The breakout box features connections for SDI, HD-SDI Digital and Analog I/O, Component, Composite, S-VHS, Y/C connectivity.
 

A cable is provided between each breakout box and its associated video card. The cable may be used directly where rack space is at a premium. The cable provides SD/HD-SDI connectivity, however the breakout box is required if you need a reference input.

The Typhon is offered with quad 4GB Fibre Channel connection so you can use your existing storage, or a Drastic-recommended or supplied solution.
 

QuickClip Server - capture/playback software, including serial control in and out, VTR emulation.

AutoProxy - automated proxy encoding to a limited range of profiles.
 

MediaReactor - full transcoding suite with wide format support, also includes watch folders, automated proxy encoding.
 

DrasticPreview - a skinnable media player with broad format support, metadata display.

SyncControl software - synchronize the capture or playback start of multiple Drastic DDRs.
