Optibase VideoPlex Pro/YUV QuickClip Download
QuickClip software provides advanced playback functionality for your VideoPlex Pro or VideoPlex YUV MPEG decoder (playback-only) hardware. It supports standard RS-422 serial communications, Sony/Panasonic/JVC Digital Serial Extensions, Louth and Odetics protocols. It also controls external VTRs/DDRs for stream output and playlist playback.
QuickClip is a subset of our VVW DDR technology. It contains the most important functions for editing, production and automation of compressed standard or uncompressed standard and high definition video.

NOTE: To properly test QuickClip software you will need RS-232 To RS-422 conversion hardware. Please see our RS422/RS232 notes (click here).

| Notes |
The VideoPlex card is a simple, low end decoder. This version of QuickClip is designed for basic 422 triggered playback, wall display/ looped list, and basic Louth/ VDCP/ Odetics clip playback. If you require a full featured MPEG playback DDR, please see QuickClip for Aja. Here are some bugs noted by Optibase concerning the VideoPlex:
- Last frames are not currently played (3 for video-only, 1 for system file).
- Audio ticks and random noise may appear at system start-up or after the CS4920/2 performs A H/W reset.
- Field mode decoding is working but not fully functional.
- Shows only one field in Pause/Single step mode. Therefore MPEG2 clips may flicker at pause state or at EOF (CL9100)
- All Full D1 and Half D1 clips flicker in Slow motion mode. (CL9100)
- All Full D1 clips flicker at EOV.(CL9100)
- To play Audio PES streams, specify a system type of stream, and make sure that USE_PTS is off.
- Random access, current frame and current playtime are not frame accurate.
- Single Step mode works incorrectly after Scan. (CL9100)
- Random Access specifying 100% (end of stream) works incorrectly.
- VideoPlex YUV video settings when in Genlock are not accurate
- VideoPlex Pro video settings when NOT in Genlock are not accurate
- On some muxed files performing RandomAccess or FastForward results in permanently playing in Fast mode. As a workaround one can set the CS_UCODE_VER param to 0x02. (the mpg2play.exe has an INI entry "CS_UCODE_VER=2" in section "[VideoPlex]")
- Using VideoPlex PRO, the picture of genlock preview will be shifted to the right.
- Using VideoPlex PLUS(PCI), The picture of genlock preview will not be seen on S-Video output
- File duration is missing in File Info for Audio only files.
- Time code returns are not accurate
- Terminate file doesn't work after Pause.
- Loop mode doesn't work on small clips (less than the board's buffer).
- Random Access and loop mode don't work after file name disappears in Active file Status bar (near end of file).
- Terminate file doesn't work after Random Access on Audio only files.
- Fast-Forward works incorrectly after Random Access slider completes Loop. (Slider jumps to EOF and counter continues to count).
- Counter works wrong in Fast-Forward mode (doesn't indicate a MSec.).
- Initialization during playback does not remove Active file from the player and does not disable all control buttons.
- Slow, Fast, Single and Scan are not implemented for MPA files.
QuickClip for VideoPlex REQUIRES transport streams. A utility is now included in the installation to convert program streams to transport streams (dtps2ts .exe).
Only one type chroma/frame size is supported at a time.
To switch types, Remove all the clips from the Clip Bin and VTR TC space, Restart QuickClip, Add the new clips and Restart QuickClip again. Alternately, Deleting the Clips.log and Default.edl (as well as any backups) will reset the stream type. Multiple Clips.log and Default.edl's may also be maintained for different file types using the LocalConfig utility.
We have had reports of driver issues, especially with the VideoPlex Pro. Please download the 2.4 drivers below and install them before running QuickClip.
The VVW MPEG transcoder is not active in this version, therefore, all clips should start and end with valid GOPs. Only full, non-overlapping clips should be added to the time code/VTR emulation space. Trimming clips will cause MPEG distortions at the edit points.
Only initial support for bumping has been implemented. It does work with some controllers, but may not work for all. Long (7 second) pre-rolls are recommended.
Recording functions (batch digitization, record VTR control, external DDR clip control) are present on the interface, but will not work as the VideoPlex hardware is playback-only.
End of life at version 3.0. VideoPlex YUV has no genlock.
